Tomorrow between 10 & 2 the cable guy will be showing up to take away our cable box and we will begin our long overdue prohibition on channel surfing. At some point I’d like to try an all out ban on TV, but in these hard economic times when damn near every night is spent at home, it’s pretty unimaginable to consider. This is not to say that I won’t be making the effort to decrease my ass-to-couch time. I figure that while I’m making good on a lot of personal improvements (thanks to the Wii Fit I got for Christmas), now would be a good time to get back to blogging regularly.

As per usual, I’m fairly stumped as to the subject matter. While I still give a hefty shit about the socio-political issues of the day, I read far too many eloquent writers on such matters to allow my hat to fall into the ring. Anything I contribute on those matters won’t be nearly as well thought through and written, so best to leave it be. Instead I want to focus on making my days fulfilling and satisfying enough to warrant a daily journal of some sort. I’ve got plenty of ideas for personal projects, music, art, etc., so that the only excuse I should have for not writing a journal entry is because I spent a significant chunk of my free time writing something else.

Like everything in my life, I lose interest in shit pretty quick, especially if I’m not instantly amazing at it. It took a long fuckin’ while, but in the last year I’ve finally begun to realize the value of practice and discipline in the improvement of my hobbies and abilities. How very “duh” of me!

More importantly, this is the year that I’m going to stop caring about how whether or not other folks will appreciate the effort or output of my hobbies and just do them for myself. It’s time to start creating and stop letting my inner critic stop me at the door.
